The Best Weight Loss Injections Available in Glasgow Right Now

If you’ve been looking into weight loss injections in Glasgow, chances are you’ve come across a fair bit of noise. Adverts online, clinics popping up everywhere, conflicting claims about which jab is “the best one.” At Bannerman’s Pharmacy we’d rather just tell you what’s actually on offer, how it works, and what it costs, so you can decide what’s right for you with a proper pharmacist in the room.

What’s Currently Available?

At the minute, we offer two main weight loss injections: Mounjaro and Wegovy.

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) mimics two hormones in your body, GLP-1 and GIP. Between them, these slow down how quickly your stomach empties and help you feel fuller for longer. It’s available in doses from 2.5mg up to 15mg, so your pharmacist can start you low and step you up gradually.

Wegovy (semaglutide) works a bit differently. It prompts your body to release insulin, which curbs appetite and again helps with fullness. Doses run from 0.25mg through to 2.4mg.

Both have shown good results in clinical trials and both are licensed for weight management in adults who meet the criteria, but neither is a quick fix on its own. They work best alongside better eating habits and regular activity, and that’s something your pharmacist will go through with you at your consultation.

A Needle-Free Option Has Arrived

Not keen on injections? There’s now an alternative. In June 2026 the MHRA approved the Wegovy pill, the first oral semaglutide tablet licensed for weight management in the UK. Same active ingredient as the Wegovy injection, same way of working, just no needle involved. For anyone who’s been put off treatment purely because of the idea of self-injecting, this is worth asking about. We stock it at Bannerman’s alongside the injectable options, and your pharmacist can help you work out whether the tablet or the injection makes more sense for you.

Who Can Get Weight Loss Injections?

These aren’t handed out to anyone who fancies trying them. Weight loss injections aren’t licensed for anyone with a BMI under 27. As a rough guide, a BMI of 30 or above is classed as obese, and 25 to 29.9 as overweight. If you don’t know your own number off the top of your head, that’s fine, we’ll work it out with you at your consultation and use it, along with your medical history and goals, to figure out the right path.

Worth saying too: not everyone who books a consultation walks away with a prescription. If a jab isn’t the right call for you, our pharmacists will tell you that honestly and point you toward other ways to support your weight loss instead, free of charge.

What Does It Cost?

Pricing depends on the medication and the dose. Here’s where things stand right now:

Wegovy

  • 0.25mg, 0.5mg and 1mg: £130 per month
  • 1.7mg and 2.4mg: £190 per month

Mounjaro

  • 2.5mg: £170 per month
  • 5mg: £185 per month
  • 7.5mg: £240 per month
  • 10mg: £270 per month
  • 12.5mg: £290 per month
  • 15mg: £310 per month

Your pharmacist will suggest a starting dose based on your own circumstances, then adjust it over time depending on how you respond and what results you’re seeing.

Are They Safe?

Like any medication, weight loss injections can come with side effects. The common ones are mild, nausea, fatigue, diarrhoea or constipation, and they tend to settle as your body adjusts. In rarer cases people can experience longer-term gastrointestinal issues. When these medications are prescribed properly and monitored by a healthcare professional, though, they’re considered very safe. That’s why we won’t sell them over the counter without a proper consultation first.

Why Come to Bannerman’s?

We’ve been part of Glasgow’s local communities for over forty years, and our weight management service runs on the same principle that’s guided us the whole way through: proper, personal care from people who actually know what they’re doing.

Book a consultation with us and you’re not filling out an online form and waiting for a package to land on your doorstep. You’re sitting down with an experienced prescribing pharmacist who’ll assess your health, work out your BMI, talk through your goals, and agree a plan that’s realistic for you. If injections make sense, we’ll get you started safely. If they don’t, we’ll say so. Either way you get ongoing support and regular check-ins, not just a one-off sale.

This service is available across our Glasgow branches, including Woodside, Napiershall, Possil and Saracen, plus our Kirkintilloch pharmacy nearby.
